The CAT 992 series is one of Australia's most important production loaders – defaults to 45/65R45 L-5 tyres on most current generations. We trade every credible brand and pattern in this fitment.
The Caterpillar 992 has been a workhorse Australian production loader for over forty years across multiple generations – 992C, 992D, 992G, 992K (the current generation in most operations), and the announced 992L. It's the primary wheel loader on dozens of mining operations across the Pilbara, the Goldfields, Bowen Basin, NT, and SA.
Standard tyre fitment on the 992K and 992L is 45/65R45 L-5 – a 45-inch rim, extra-deep tread, heat-resistant or cut-resistant compound depending on application. This is one of the larger and more demanding loader sizes in the OTR market. Supply is tighter than smaller sizes; lead times can extend.
Older 992 generations ran 33.5R39 (992D, 992G) – a different size altogether. If you're sourcing for legacy 992 fleet, check the actual machine generation before ordering. Mixing 33.5R39 onto a 992K fitment is not a working configuration.
For most current 992 fleet, the credible tier-one options are Bridgestone VRDP, Michelin XLD D2 L-5, Goodyear RL-5L, and Yokohama RL5K+. Credible mid-tier options include BKT Earthmax SR468 and Aeolus AL57 in the secondary fleet position.
